An Update from The Barn...
Dear Members
We write to you as the 2024 season at the Barn draws to a close to introduce ourselves as new honorary directors of The Ellen Terry Barn Society.
For the last twenty years or so, (no-one, including Peter, is sure quite how many years exactly!) Peter Mould has led the Barn Theatre Society as Honorary Director, programming season after season of high quality productions. He has effectively and safely maintained the day to day running of the Theatre and The Barn Society continuing the legacy set by Edy Craig herself while also directing and starring in many productions. Not least, Peter has directed, produced and often acted in the annual Shakespeare production which he has overseen in memory of Dame Ellen Terry.
For many years Peter has considered passing on the proverbial baton and has threatened to take a less prominent role in the society. Some of you may have heard Peter say, at one point or another, “this year will be my last”. As two of his regular actors, we have certainly heard this on more than one occasion, although reports that he was uttering these words as long as twenty years ago remain unconfirmed. However, Peter has now announced that the time has finally come and he is to take a step back from the day to day running of the theatre. Worry not, he will remain as honorary president of the society, supporting and guiding us moving forward and keeping a keen eye on the programming and of the Theatre he loves so much.
Lifejackets will therefore remain firmly under your seats and the muster point will still forever be at end of the pond (not in the pond!)....
